Brightplus is a green chemistry company based in Oulu, that develops environmentally friendly material solutions for various industries. Its flagship product, BrightBio®, is a pioneering bio-based material that enables recycling and provides an effective solution for reducing waste and minimising environmental impact.

What kind of product or service is it?
The exclusive KAIKU bag collection launched with Lovia in September 2025 is made from a bio-based material and is fully recyclable. The collection is designed by the Lovia brand and, for the first time, manufactured using Brightplus’ advanced innovative material, BrightBio® KAIKU.
BrightBio® KAIKU is waterproof, durable, and completely free of PFAS compounds and other harmful chemicals. The material is made from bio-based, renewable raw materials such as soybean oil and other non-edible industrial side streams.

How is the solution related to the circular economy?
This innovative material represents the future of the circular economy: the product is designed to be recycled at the end of its lifecycle and reused in new products. BrightBio® KAIKU is OEKO-TEX® certified, ensuring safety and durability without compromising on appearance or quality.
The product demonstrates the true potential of circularity in fashion. At the end of its lifecycle, the material can be recovered and reused for the same purpose. The name KAIKU (“echo”) reflects the product philosophy in which every action and choice resonates in the environment and helps us understand the impact of our behaviour. Our goal is perfect circularity, where the material stays in circulation without degrading in quality. By combining design expertise with pioneering material technology, the KAIKU bag offers an innovative and sustainable solution for the future of responsible fashion.
